The Damsel

by: Jessica Camilli

oil on canvas

“This piece began as a “preliminary sketch” for a larger oil painting I am working on. The final painting will be a contemporary recreation of John Maler Collier’s “Lilith" - reflecting imagery from some of my dreams. Erin happened to reach out to me about a commission for merch for her new album release tour on the very day I put the first layer down on this piece. It seemed serendipitous as the imagery I was using reflected some of the themes she was looking for. I changed the colors of my palette to mirror those of her album cover and created a digital version for her as well. I love how the earrings she is wearing on the cover connect to the symbolism in this painting.”
